Cross-Fertilization is a collaboration with retired US Forest Ecologist, Sarah Greene, exploring commonalities between art and science. Our project involves spending time together in forests to exchange ideas about art, ecology, and Earth’s future. Sarah provides access to historical and contemporary research documents, which I embed within my paintings. Ten topics have emerged as themes for project paintings: Being, Roots, Wonder, Fieldwork, Cycles, Impermanence, Caring, Humility, Pathways, and Wildness. We believe that cross-fertilization between scientists, artists, and educators creates transformation and hope.
